For many centuries the river Nile formed the basis for what was the foremost civilization among the Mediterranean countries. The annual flooding of the great river supplied the soil with plenty of water and nutrients, and it made Egypt a rich agricultural country. The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza, the bust of Queen Nefertiti and the death mask of King Tutankhamun are perhaps the most famous known historical remains from this prominent civilization. Here you can see all this surrounded by the Nile's vibrant wildlife.
